Arcana Invoker Class Update

Changes Coming in Response to Your Feedback

Hello everyone, we’re planning on making adjustments to Arcana Invoker based on the feedback you sent over the weekend. We've been testing some changes and while nothing is final, we'd like to share what we've been looking to address.

Damage output being backloaded, rather than being consistent throughout the entire skill rotation

A lot of you have expressed dissatisfaction with the amount of time it takes to ramp up the class's damage, and the short period of time in which you're actually able to deal a notable amount of damage. To partially address this, we're experimenting with changes to how "The World" aura works, which involve having it last longer while also ramping your damage the longer it's been active, but at the cost of reducing your defenses the longer it's been active.

The "One With the Cycle" skill

To be frank, this skill feels very underwhelming and it isn't performing as well as it should be. We're currently testing a change to this skill that aims to improve its damage ramping (similar to how Shaman's skills work), which should also help with increasing the class's damage output early on.

Damage Resistance falloff while cycling through the Arcana

Damage Resistance falls off very fast when building towards The World. To help establish a more defensive skill rotation, we're looking at reducing Damage Resistance falloff while cycling through the Arcana, while also adding some initial Damage Resistance to The World. However as stated above, the Damage Resistance falloff would continue to persist through The World, while increasing your damage at the same time.

The healing is really low

We can make it higher.

How to Obtain the Class

If you are at least level 80, Arcana Invoker can be unlocked by obtaining 22 different Arcana related items and turning in their respective quests. There are two ways to obtain these items:

1. Create each one in a merge shop using new and existing items.
2. Merge Darkon and/or King Drago Insignias for Arcana's Debris, which can then be used to create the Arcana items. 

Each Arcana's Debris will cost either 1 Darkon or King Drago Insignia, and if you are only using Arcana's Debris to obtain the class, you will need a total of 80.

Note: The farming methods aren't mutually exclusive. If you want to get some of the Arcana items through merge shop farming but others with Arcana's Debris, go right ahead!

Arcana Invoker Details

Arcana Invoker is an endgame two target farming and solo DPS class that revolves around summoning all 22 aspects of the Arcana, starting with The Fool, then ending with The World.

Arcana Invoker will be acquired at rank 1, like other classes. Previously, we thought it could be acquired at rank 5, but an issue is currently preventing this. The class will not have a rank 4 passive in the traditional sense, but its rank 10 passive provides more effects than the average one to make up for it.

Battle monsters in the /Garden, /Astravia, and /Astraviajudge for wicked reward drops.

We do not have a security vulnerability.

Keep your account safe. Never share your password.

Recently, we've gotten questions about a few screenshots that show a list of hacked accounts and their login information. We do not have a security vulnerability. These accounts were "stolen" when players shared their account information. We've already taken action to secure them.

A known trouble maker returned and apparently bought a list of 500 scammed/hacked accounts from a scammer online and has been causing a stir with it. Player support has been being spammed by these individuals as they attempt to use compromised accounts to trick the team or other players into giving them information. We have reset any reported accounts back to their original owner with a randomized password.

Please spread the message that players should NEVER use the same password on multiple sites. A lot of players use the same name and password on other (and older) sites. The danger (and probably what is happening in this case) is the hackers will search for player names on the dark web. If a player used the same password on multiple sites, and one of those sites was breached, the hacker will take the info they find and test it against our games to see if they work.

This reason is why you should never use the same password on multiple sites. It does not matter how secure we are if hackers find your password somewhere else.

Why would anyone steal accounts?

They sell them. Which creates a secondary situation. Because their buyers typically do not know the account is stolen. So when the original owner of the account contacts player support and recovers their account... then the buyer thinks they were hacked. In this regard, the scammer rips off both the original owner and the buyer. This is why we do not allow the selling, trading, or sharing of accounts. Again, there are no security vulnerability in our system. Our password are one-way encrypted and not even the staff can see or unencrypt them. Which is why once again, and I cannot stress this enough... use a unique password for your game accounts.

AQWorlds: Infinity For Dummies Guide Book

Excruciatingly Available at Bones & Gnomefells

Peek inside (read on) for an Infinity progress update, new animation sneaky peeks, intentionally confusing tech mumbo jumbo, and (REDACTED).

The "Dummy" is called... Mr. Guy

You may already know Mr. Guy. We have covered him before in previous posts. He is the "dummy" character. Sorta like a digital mannequin. He is a placeholder that is replaced my all player pieces in the game, cutscenes, and for previewing items in your inventory. His skin is gray and his hair is white for color customization reasons. He has one of every possible piece of equipment that a character to can wear. When creating a new animation, they must use Mr. Guy to create it. This is why you will almost always see Mr. Guy in animation previews.

While appearing to spend a lot of time at the digital gym on his 8-pack, Mr. Guy thinks that every body type is beautiful. Probably because he is... literally.... every-body. Also, sometimes Monsters. One way of thinking about it... everyone has some Mr. Guy (or Ms. Girl) deep within us.

We discovered a number of problems with Mr. Guy across the various projects that form together like Voltron to make AdventureQuest: Infinity. (Does anyone even know what Voltron is any more? Originally I was going to go with Transformer Constructicons forming Devastator or enough skulls forming Vordred... shared pop cultural references are in such a weird place these days) Now that we have cinematic cutscenes working, we started finding issues when making them. Mr. Guy needs rebuilt. So, Ghost is biting the bullet and rebuilding Mr. Guy as you ready this. (Sorry Ghost!) ...also, Ms. Girl.

New Animation Sneak Peeks!

The DragonSlayer class (Infinity version) is getting some new animations. Spider & Immortal Joe have the Skill Forge (a tool to build new classes & monsters) functional. Nulgath just sent in these new animations.

Spinning like a large Hadron Collider.... potential risk of creating a DPS black hole.

Bladed upper cut. This technique is probably barred from the upcoming Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul fight. But you will be able to perform it in game without having to wear mandatory head gear.

Rolling a 1 when attempting to start your camp fire. Use this technique to smoke the competition.

Sticking your knife into the electrical outlook.

"DragonSphere Y power up!" OK... so my kids watched Goku go Super Saiyan for the first time last weekend. But since we always do everything out of order, it was the one where he went Super Saiyan 3 against Majin Buu. The power up goes on for quite a while in that episode. My oldest son turned to me and said, "Seriously... how long is this going to go on?" My wife glanced at the TV, worked on something in the house, went outside to water her plants, came back in, looked at the TV and said, "Is he STILL powering up?" As Goku powered up the Earth started shaking and breaking apart. The other two kids are watching unblinkingly as Goku's hair starts getting awkwardly rock-star big. I was sitting there on the couch thinking, "Ah, now this is peak parenting!"

Mr. Guy got lonely. So, our animator, Ghost, started working on Ms. Girl. This is important because these two models are animated differently.

Why... the Green!?

"To mess with green screens, of course!"

Some armors and skins are color customizable. To make sure they work, we often test using extreme colors. Reens, for example, really likes using green. As the saying goes, "It is not easy being green..." when "...the color customizer breaks."

New Loot Inventory System

When you get items, they will go into a special loot bag. This means you can pick up a bunch of stuff and then decide what to do with it later.... with previews. The loot inventory persists when you log out. We limited it to 20 items... and as you get more items, it should auto destroy the oldest ones. It would be nice to make an option to prioritize rare items over trash drops. But I think you will agree, we need to get the base functionality working and get the game up for you to play before adding those sort of quality of life features.

Destruction to all Dialog Boxes!

I hate modals (those pop up dialog boxes). Sometimes, they serve a purpose... but as a general rule, we should get rid of them whenever possible. This was put here to make sure you knew you got an item. Instead, we are going to move the item from your loot bag to your inventory... and have the new item be up at the top of the list where you can instantly see and use it. If you close and re-open your inventory, everything will go back to being in alphabetical order.

Techno Mumbo Jumbo Engage!

There are two major topics we did not discuss in today's update. The biggest one is major issue with the armor importer. Warlic & Spider built a system to automatically import (most) AQWorlds armors. They will not have animations or any special features, but hey, at least you will have the art when you login! But Unity's default way of importing things was not designed to handle importing the insane volume (Hundreds of thousands?) of individual armor parts through the sprite packer to export asset bundles. During some tests of the armor importer, the process said it would take 60 hours for just the armors starting with an "A"! ...but the process would never actually finish. Honestly, there are a lot of things I do not understand about the importer and its complex set of daisy-chained systems. Anything I am writing now is probably oversimplified and inaccurate. Warlic & Spider (and now Zhoom, too) have been experimenting and working on potential solutions. As of Monday's full team sync up, things are finally looking promising.

A More Lively Undead Game

The second thing.... while working on Willow Creek, the team noticed that the new game did not look "as alive" as the existing AQWorlds. The NPCs are not animated and do not blink. So the the content team lost their minds and started rebuilding the NPCs as fully functional actors with all of the player animations. (I love this about this team so much.) This happened while I was out of the country. Both Zhoom and I were out of the country-- hence the eerie radio silence. The original AQWorlds has a whole lot of super weird bugs baked into it. Things that we did when we were first making the game that would haunt us for the decade and a half that followed. We only get one shot at making the base of AQWorlds Infinity right. Once the game is live and you are playing it, it will be too late to change the core stuff. We are already running super late... so we are going to get these things right now, while we still can.

We are currently preparing the DragonSlayer Class and updated Dragon's Lair for the next Tech Demo.

Arcana Invoker Class Preview

The 22 Arcana Will Be Yours to Wield!

This is not a joke (despite what you may have seen during April Fools). We are making a Darkon Class, and it arrives on April 26th!

Since it began, the Elegy of Madness Saga has been a fan-favorite, one of the most popular stories in the entire game. It took almost two years to tell due to the complex story, macabre graphics, and intense cutscenes, but it was absolutely worth the effort (and the wait). Since the ended, we've gotten a steady flood of suggestions, requests, and pleas for a unique Darkon-theme class.

For the last several years, the class team's focus has been on improving existing classes rather than releasing new ones.* That benefits everyone playing the game - new heroes and experienced ones. But to do a Darkon class justice, we were going to need to go all-out and fully embrace insanity.

We wanted to make this class a reality as much as you all did... but be warned. The line between reality and the realm of madness is a thin one. Tread carefully.

How to Obtain the Class

If you are at least level 80, Arcana Invoker can be unlocked by obtaining 22 different Arcana related items and turning in their respective quests. There are two ways to obtain these items:

1. Create each one in a merge shop using new and existing items.
2. Merge Darkon and/or King Drago Insignias for Arcana's Debris, which can then be used to create the Arcana items. 

Each Arcana's Debris will cost either 1 Darkon or King Drago Insignia, and if you are only using Arcana's Debris to obtain the class, you will need a total of 80.

Note: The farming methods aren't mutually exclusive. If you want to get some of the Arcana items through merge shop farming but others with Arcana's Debris, go right ahead!

Arcana Invoker Details

Arcana Invoker is an endgame two target farming and solo DPS class that revolves around summoning all 22 aspects of the Arcana, starting with The Fool, then ending with The World.

Arcana Invoker will be acquired at rank 1, like other classes. Previously, we thought it could be acquired at rank 5, but an issue is currently preventing this. The class will not have a rank 4 passive in the traditional sense, but its rank 10 passive provides more effects than the average one to make up for it.

Recommended enhancement: Wizard

Stat Model: Offensive Caster

Mana Regen: The Arcana Invoker regains 15 mana when they strike a target with Arcana Invocation (affected by Mana Consumption).

Anagenesis

Type: 60% Physical
Range: Infinite
Cooldown: 2.2 seconds

Deliver a strike with your blade of flesh. Deals physical damage based on your Spell Power.
A fairly standard Auto Attack, but this one hits two targets.

The Beginning and the End

 Rank needed: 1
Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 1
Type: 222% Magical
Range: Infinite
Mana Cost: 0
Cooldown: 5 seconds

Begin the cycle anew by summoning The Fool, increasing your Damage Resistance by 80% for 45 seconds. 

If Judgement is active, instead summon The World for 22 seconds, changing the effects of your other skills. 

If The World is active, instead deals damage based on your stacks of End of the World. 

Using this skill while Judgement isn't active will reset the cycle. Can't miss.

The start and end of your journey. The first skill you use on this class should always be this one, as summoning The Fool enables the rest of the class skills to function, while also granting you a massive defense buff. Once Judgement is summoned, use this skill again to summon The World, unleashing the full power of Arcana Invoker!

Type: 100% Hybrid
Range: Infinite
Mana Cost: -15
Cooldown: 3 seconds

If The Fool is present, summon an Arcana. Arcana are summoned in a set order, with each one granting you a new effect and the effects of all previously summoned Arcana. Each time an Arcana is summoned, your Damage Resistance is reduced by 4%. 

If The World is active, instead deals increased damage and applies two stacks of End of the World, stacks to 22. Recovers 15 mana on hit. Can't miss.

Once The Fool is summoned, you can start summoning the other Arcana. Simply put, each time you use this skill, you gain a stat buff (see passives below), but you lose some of the defense granted to you by The Fool.

Arcana Revocation

Rank needed: 3
Target: Enemy
Max Targets: 2
Type: 80% Magical
Range: Infinite
Mana Cost: 40
Cooldown: 3 seconds

Channel a magical attack through your Arcana, applying a Reversed effect to your target based on your currently summoned Arcana. All effects last 15 seconds unless otherwise specified.

If The World is active, applies The World (Reversed) for 5 seconds, applying all Reversed stat debuffs at half potency.

This skill applies a debuff to your target based on the current Arcana you have active (see passives below). While this is the only skill on the class that costs mana, it costs a lot, so you may want to conserve your mana to ensure that you can apply a specific debuff at the right time.

One With the Cycle

Type: 100% Magical
Range: Infinite
Mana Cost: 0 
Cooldown: 9 seconds

The Fool's power surges from within you. Deals more damage the longer The Fool has been summoned.

This skill starts off weak, but gets noticeably stronger the longer The Fool persists.

Conclusion

Much like Darkon, your goal as an Arcana Invoker is to complete the cycle by summoning The World. To assist you in this are the other 20 Arcana, starting with The Fool which grants you a massive defense buff, then the next 19 Arcana, which grant you a new buff when summoned, but weaken the power of the Fool's defense buff.

The core gameplay of the class revolves around using Arcana Invocation as frequently as possible, while also using Arcana Revocation to apply specific debuffs, and One With the Cycle to deal damage to your opponents. Once you have reached Judgement, you can summon The World, greatly enhancing the power of your skills for a short time.

Well that's enough explanation, you've got a Primordial to serve. Now go forth, though try not to sacrifice anyone or end the world.

* Plus, when AQW Infinity releases, every class will need to be reworked. That's a hefty project. O_O With that said... *hint hint* I'm not saying Infinity won't get brand new classes in between the re-release of existing ones... OR AM I?!?!

Speak to any of the class trainer NPC’s to find out about their class, where to obtain them, and what they’re best used for.

Some classes may be more or less powerful than others in the same hall, and some can be found earlier or later! These halls simply act as a guide for classes you can look towards, and find interest in.

This includes paid and package classes, but not classes with limited availability. Heromart classes are not included either. Classes will all be represented by their most readily available counterpart or simplest name, but you can use the wiki to find variants and reskins of classes when available.
