May and June Class Updates

Read on to learn more about our recent class changes

Over the last 2 months, several classes have received large buffs and many changes to make them feel better to play.

• Heavy Metal Necro + variants have been modernized and made stronger, for late-game and endgame players
• Pyromancer + variants have been greatly improved and made easier to get, for mid-game players
• Cryomancer + variants have been greatly improved and made easier to get, for mid-game and late-game players
• DragonLord was made smoother and less confusing to play, and buffed so it could keep up with the current meta
• Elemental Warrior variants have been completely revamped and made harder to get to match its new power level, for late-game and end-game players

New Summer of Madness Gear

Everyone loves to get prizes... and that's why everyone in AdventureQuest Worlds will get at least one free spin on the Wheel of Doom per week.

• Members get one free spin a day while their upgrade is active
• All players get one free spin a week. 

Spin the Wheel, Collect Treasures, Choose Your Prize 

Each time you spin the Wheel of Doom, you'll get a Treasure Potion to spend in the Doom Merge Shop. Save up 1,000 and you'll be able to buy a Wicked Item of Donated Awesomeness. Each WIoDA lets you choose a rare or valuable item* straight from your account manager.

How to Claim your Prize

Make sure you have a confirmed email address attached to your game account, and then follow these steps:

1. Decide on the item you want
2. Log into your Account Manager
3. Click on the "Awesome Prizes" link on the sidebar
4. You'll see a list of the IoDA tokens you have available
5. Choose from a list of ALL the eligible item rewards  
6. You'll be taken to a verification page to confirm your choice

Redeem IoDA tokens to get even MORE bonuses

For each of the first six eligible IoDA tokens you receive , you'll get a FREE Bonus IoDA. The eligible tokens are the Ultimate, Epic, Platinum, Wicked  and Golden tokens. After that, you'll get a free Bonus IoDA for every 3 eligible IoDA you redeem, with no maximum stack. So if you have that dream set of gear you want to create... now you'll be able to.

After you redeem your...

• 1st IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA
• 2nd IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA
• 3rd IoDA, you'll unlock 1free bonus IoDA
• 4th IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA
• 5th IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA
• 6th IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA

Then, for every 3 IoDA you redeem, you'll unlock another free bonus IoDA.

After you redeem your...

• 7th, 8th, and 9th IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA
• 10th, 11th, and 12th IoDA, you'll unlock 1 free bonus IoDA

And so on. The 3:1 bonus IoDA ratio starts after you get your first 6 free BIoDA, regardless of when you received them. (Example: if you've redeemed a total of 21 IoDA tokens, you'll unlock 11 BIoDA total. The first 6 BIoDA at a 1:1 ratio, and then 5 more at the 3:1 ratio.)

* Exceptions include staff personal items, custom weapon contest prizes, HeroMart items, etc

Treasure Chests Details

There is a small chance to get a mysterious Treasure Chest as a reward drop when you battle ANY monster in-game. Have you found one yet?

Treasure chests are a fun - but completely optional - way to get exclusive items in AdventureQuest Worlds. The chests have a less than 1% chance of dropping from ANY monster in the entire game. Each one contains one of over 215 epic items that you can't get anywhere else (and the number will keep growing)!

• All of the items are 0 AC so you can store them for free 
• All of the items are non-member so you can use them forever

There's just one problem. You can't open the Treasure Chests without a Magic Key. The good news is that Twilly (the little red Moglin in Battleon) has a few extras and will happily sell you one for 200 ACs and open your chest for you.

Monthly Membership Perk Arrives Friday, July 1st

Members, log in and talk to Twilly this Sunday to claim your two FREE treasure chest keys! Collect treasure chests as you battle through Lore, then use the keys to open them for new free items.

Over two years ago, we first ventured into the dark, deadly and, in all honesty, horrifyingly nightmarish shadows of AdventureQuest Worlds' artist, Darkon's mind. Together with AQWorlds writer, Cylisse, they've crafted a ten-part tale that will leave you feeling both terrified *and* intrigued. This saga has been called one of the best in AdventureQuest Worlds... and the saga finale is here at last. 

Why end it? Because THIS story is complete. And Darkon wants to go out on... *cough* a high note. (We just HAD to include one more music pun. Now I'll give it a rest. A whole rest.)

Class Changelog: 6/17/22

Ultra Elemental Warrior / Legendary Elemental Warrior

A revamp to how the class functions and handles auras, to bring it closer to the original gameplay and remove most of the RNG in play.

Changes: 

• Elemental Warrior now places as a powerful but complex late-game solo and DPS class, with both high defensive and offensive potential, but in differing scenarios. 
• All of the descriptions, icons, and several of the animations have been updated.

Why was an update needed?

 Being an old fan-favorite class, we wanted it to be usable and fun for everyone to experience. The existing class was too weak for that, and could use a mechanics revamp.

Final Weekend for the Current Method

Due to the class’s new and significant increase in power, we are changing how the class will be obtained. We plan to make it both more expensive (in gold) and require more reputation ranks to purchase.

• Starting Tuesday, June 21st, the class will be more difficult to unlock by farming (it will still require the existing Elemental Orb capes, but they will be more expensive).
• The AC shortcut will not be changed.
• Anyone who currently has the class will keep it

Skill Updates

Autoattack -> Elemental Axe

- Damage reduced (100% -> 80%)
- Range increased (Melee -> Medium)

Elemental Fusion -> Elemental Invocation

- Damage reduced (150% -> 120%)
- Mana cost decreased  (11 -> 6)
- Range Increased (Melee -> Medium)
- No longer applies Blazing, Earthen Blessing, Shocked, Critical Mass, Molten Armor, or Grounded.
- Now applies Elemental Power to the caster, lasting 5 seconds and reducing damage taken and mana cost by 15%.
- Now applies Mana Rift to the enemy, lasting 10 seconds and reducing Dodge and Crit Chance by 15%

Blaze

- Cooldown decreased  (6 -> 4)
- Mana cost decreased  (18 -> 10)
- Range increased (Melee -> Long)
- Fire Magic now requires Elemental Power to apply and consumes it
- If Earth Magic is present, now consumes it and applies Incandescent to the caster for 20 seconds, increasing Endurance by 100% and Healing Intake by 200%
- If Energy Magic is present, now consumes it and applies Critical Mass to the caster for 10 seconds, increasing Critical Chance by 25% and Critical Damage by 125%

Stoneskin

- Now heals for 50% Magic damage, or double that if Elemental Power is present
- Cannot crit
- Cooldown decreased  (23 -> 4)
- Mana cost decreased  (22 -> 12)
- Earth Magic now requires Elemental Power to apply and consumes it
- If Fire Magic is present, now consumes it and applies Molten Armor to the caster for 20 seconds, increasing Defense by 60%
- If Energy Magic is present, Earthen Blessing to the caster for 20 seconds, healing for 200% Hybrid damage total

Chain Lightning -> Voltaic Overload

- Now does 1200% of your current Mana for damage, but only hits one target.
- Cooldown decreased  (12 -> 6)
- Mana cost decreased  (33 -> 12)
- Range decreased  (Infinite -> Long)
- Energy Magic now requires Elemental Power to apply and consumes it
- If Fire Magic is present, now consumes it and applies Superconductor to the caster, increasing Damage by 50% for 10 seconds
- If Earth Magic is present, now consumes it and applies Grounded to the caster for 10 seconds, increasing haste by 20%

Command of Darkness

- Added 75% increase to Endurance.

Command of Light

- Added 12% increase to Haste.

Blizzard

- Old effect removed (it was nonfunctional)
- New effect: Starting from rank 1, when invoking Elemental Power, you have a 5% chance of creating the rare but powerful Ice Magic. Fusing this magic with different elements can lead to very brief but powerful effects.

The fusion of Ice and Fire makes you Supercritical, increasing your Strength and Intelligence by 200% and Luck by 20% for 5 seconds.

The fusion of Ice and Earth creates Hailstone, healing you greatly.

The fusion of Ice and Energy creates Hoarfrost, reducing your Mana Cost by 200% for 5 seconds- causing you to generate mana instead!

Elemental Power -> Fire Magic -> Earth Magic = Molten Armor (-60% All In) (20s)

Elemental Power -> Fire Magic -> Energy Magic = Superconductor (+50% All Out) (10s)

Elemental Power -> Earth Magic -> Fire Magic = Incandescent (+100% END, +200% Heal Intake) (20s)

Elemental Power -> Earth Magic -> Energy Magic = Grounded (+20% Haste) (10s)

Elemental Power -> Energy Magic -> Fire Magic = Critical Mass (+25% Crit Chance, +125% Crit Damage) (10s)

Father's Day of Doom

Celebrate the Father Figure Who Raised Drakath

Join us this weekend as we celebrate fathers and father figures in-game and in real-life! This year, we're adding onto our seasonal Father's Day of Doom event with an all-new adventure. Travel back in time and play as young Drakath after he fled the castle of his Father, King Dethrix. Meet the warrior who would become like a father to him, teaching him the battle skills he'd need to survive. Blood. Sweat. Tears. If you would be king, there is much you'll need to sacrifice.

Drakath's Dire Reward Gear

Battle the boss and monsters in /dreadforest to unlock a bounty of new gear that would make and bandit happy!

Celebrate Lore's Darkest Dad with a new ShadowScythe adventure

This weekend is Father's Day, and this year, we want to /cheer on all our fathers. But especially Sepulchure, the most maligned, misunderstood father an Empress could ever have. This weekend, log in and travel back in time to the days when Empress Gravelyn was knee-high to a skeletal warrior. Battle to help Sepulchure's undead assistant keep his little Princess from destroying the dracolich fortress and try to survive her first experiments into necromancy. She's her father's favorite, and he is a VERY PROUD PAPA. Making her cry might be the LAST thing you ever do. Literally.

• Battle to round up the necro minions Baby Gravelyn loosed into the halls
• Clean up after her... experiments (EW)
• Give Baby Gravelyn her "snackies" (but do NOT ask about the ingredients)
• Battle Baby Gravelyn's bestest, newest friend! (If you DARE)

Complete the adventure in the /nursery zone to unlock the One Final Task farming quest. Each time you complete it, you'll be able to choose another piece of the Shadow Phoenix armor set (shown above).

Plus, for all you shadow-loving heroes out there, complete the zone to unlock the ShadowScythe House Merge shop.

Burning Beach is Under Attack!

This weekend, fight fire with fire as we return to Burning Beach. Blazebeard (Lore's most notorious pirate) gained access to one of Pyromancy's greatest artifacts, the Magmanacles.

Now, he seeks to steal the ancient power trapped deep inside the island's volcano. If he succeeds, he'll have enough strength to rules the seas... the land... and beyond. Head to /blazingbeach as we continue the story of ArchMage Pyralis and the refugees of Feverfew Isle.

Or, if you're just joining us, begin the adventure in /burningbeach, where Pyralis seekst your help to save her people from an imminent volcanic eruption and the power of a raging (and trapped!) Storm Elemental.

#WorldGoals: Juneteenth is about equality. Respect. Kindness for all. 

Tomorrow is Juneteenth, and here in the US, we've just made it an official federal holiday. Some of you might be asking... "What's that?" Many of you already know. In case you don't, though... let me share what that means.

Juneteenth celebrates the emancipation of slaves in the United States. Most states in the US celebrate this on June 19th (which is where the holiday's name comes from, June + nineteenth) but in several areas around the country the celebrations can stretch across several days of parades, parties, lectures, and exhibitions celebrating African-American culture.

Members of our player community have every color skin, practice every religion, and come from nearly every country around the world. It has always been important to us to represent and promote equality, unity, kindness, and the spirit of playing together.

I hope you'll join us in continuing to move towards a better world, where all heroes can work alongside each other as we direct our combined energy, talent, and skill towards goals that will take us all further and higher.

If you've faced this fan-favorite, fiendish underworld boss in /tercessuinotlim before, then you'll be familiar with your opponent... if not his new attacks and skills. And if you want his rewards, get ready -- you're going to have to FIGHT like never before.

Level 80 Heroes: defeat Nulgath to earn 5 Nulgath Insignia per week, then use them to create the long-awaited Sin of Revontheus weapon (creation cost: 5 Nulgath Insignia)!

Level 95 Heroes: you can use more Nulgath Insignias to upgrade your Sin of Revontheus weapon to deal 51% more damage to ALL monsters!

Pyromancer and Cryomancer Quest Rebalancing

The daily quests for Pyromancer and Cryomancer have been adjusted in order to drastically reduce the amount of time required to obtain them.

• The "MEMBER: Shurpu Blaze Token" quest now rewards 18 Shurpu Blaze Token

Northlands Polish Update

In our ongoing effort to polish and improve AdventureQuest Worlds each week, Reens has been going back to older zones to update older areas as needed. This week, she tackled the Northlands.

Character Page Badge Updates

Did some of your badges disappear? Read on.

The AQW Team are always working to improve the gaming experience for all players. Recently, we implemented changes that will prevent the use of third party programs from loading a selection of rare and seasonal badges.

These badges were added to the game in a specific way which made them targets for these third-party bot programs. That has been fixed now. If you see any of these badges disappear, it means that badge was not obtained legitimately.

Starting Wednesday, June 1st at 12:01 AM EST (that's server time), unlock the ShadowZard Mount and Rider set.

There are two ways to get the gear:

1) Total package: Buy the entire set directly through the website for $9.99 USD 

2) Individually: Buy each of the individual pieces from Garek the Traveling Gear Merchant in Battleon.

The total cost to buy all of the gear individually is 5,000 ACs, so getting all the gear from the pack is a pretty sweet deal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this the same as an upgrade bonus? 

Upgrade bonus gear is an extra reward for buying AdventureCoin or Membership packages; new bonus gear comes out roughly every month. Seasonal set packs are bought separately. Just like the Flame Dragon Warrior pack, you can buy the entire set directly, for one price, on our site. You can ALSO buy the individual pieces in-game.

This set will return EVERY June, so if you can't get it now, you'll have another chance in upcoming years.

What if I just want ONE of the items?

You're in luck! Talk to Garek in Battleon. He'll be selling the individual pieces of the set through May 31st.

Where do I get my gear if I buy the full set through the website?

You'll find it in your Book of Lore.
