New Gear in Twilly's Treasure Chests

Have You Found A Treasure Chest Yet?

We just added two super-sweet new armor sets into Twilly's Treasure Chest to help you /party this Summer: the Sweet Summer Wave and the NobleHeart Mage! Farm for Treasure Chests as you fight any monster in the game, then open them with Treasure Chest Keys from Twilly in Battleon. You'll get one of over 215 exclusive items. 

Open a Treasure Chest for a chance to get 1 of...

• 49 armors
• 50+ weapons
• 60+ helms
• 10+ capes
• or 3 house items (including the Altar of Caladbolg)

Treasure Chests Details

There is a small chance to get a mysterious Treasure Chest as a reward drop when you battle ANY monster in-game. Have you found one yet?

Treasure chests are a fun - but completely optional - way to get exclusive items in AdventureQuest Worlds. The chests have a less than 1% chance of dropping from ANY monster in the entire game. Each one contains one of over 215 epic items that you can't get anywhere else (and the number will keep growing)!

• All of the items are 0 AC so you can store them for free 
• All of the items are non-member so you can use them forever

There's just one problem. You can't open the Treasure Chests without a Magic Key. The good news is that Twilly (the little red Moglin in Battleon) has a few extras and will happily sell you one for 200 ACs and open your chest for you.

Monthly Membership Perk Arrives Sunday, August 1st

Members, log in and talk to Twilly this Sunday to claim your two FREE treasure chest keys! Collect treasure chests as you battle through Lore, then use the keys to open them for new free items.

The WarFury's Challenge Gauntlet

Our main story continues this weekend

Log in this weekend as The Shadows of War Saga continues with the WarFury Gauntlet! While Artix, Gravelyn, and Abel continue to fight off Tyndarius and Malgor’s forces, you and Galanoth must travel to Justitica Per Belli, Varga the Warfury’s training ground. There, she will put you both through a rigorous set of exercises to fully prepare you to face Tyndarius.

In the last chapter update, Elemental Forces, you fought alongside elemental minions sent by the Avatars to help you, Galanoth, Artix, Gravelyn, and Abel defend Lore from the ShadowFlame army.

Calendar Class Updates + Bug Fixes for July 23, 2021

Earlier this month, we released new variants of the 2011 - 2018 Chronomancer-themed Calendar Class variants, available for AdventureCoins or HeroPoints in the /HeroMart map. After Reens + the Class team reviewed the changes necessary (and with some "sanity check" input from the Bugs and Player Support teams), the new expected launch date of the 2019, 2020, and 2021 calendar class variants is August 20th!

Corrupted/Underworld Chronomancer Class bug fixes

• Fixed a bug on Underworld Chronomancer that caused Hourglass of Paradise to not work properly
• Fixed a bug on Hourglass of Power that caused Dodge to be lowered instead of increased
• Removed an aura block on Foresee Corruption, increased cooldown to 60 seconds
• Updated several consumable descriptions*

*Some numbers were incorrect on certain consumable's descriptions, they have been updated to the correct values. No balance changes were made to these consumables.

Midnight Issue Updates

Facebook, LQS, and Daily Drop News

The middle of the night is not our usual Design Notes post time, but so much has been going on, not everything would fit into our earlier DN post. Read on for news!

AQW Facebook Login update 

We're in touch with Facebook's App Review/Appeal team. They have a few requests we need to address before the process can move forward. We'll resume working with them this week to get the issue addressed as quickly as possible.

LavaFlame, Abyssal, and ShadowEater Samurai Update

After receiving several requests this evening, Yoshino was able to add in "standard arm" versions of the LavaFlame and Abyssal Pyromancer armors from this weekend's Limited Quantity Set pack. These are available in your Book of Lore badge shop right now.

He's also set up a "standard arm" version of the ShadowEater Samurai armor from our 1,000,000 AC achievement tracker reward set. This update will release in the next few days (unless he sneakily rolls it while I am asleep).

Daily Drops Added to the IoDA Pool

Our daily login gifts are frequently scheduled in advance. To make sure players don't get those special drops in advance, we give them a special rarity. But that rarity also excludes them from being added into the pool of IoDA* gifts.

Later on this month, we'll update the rarity on a number of the items with the "Limited Time Drop" rarity to allow them to be added to the IoDA prize pool. Keep an eye out for more news on this in the near future.

Fire & Ice Limited Quantity Sets

Our Fire & Ice Armor Sets go on sale this Friday at 6 PM EST!

Summer is heating up, and this week, we're bringing back our Frostval in July event to help you chill out. It's time to cool off with an all-new series of Limited Quantity sets. Starting this Friday, July 16th, at 6 PM EST, find all-new limited quantity packs, plus returning gear that hasn't sold out yet. 

To get the gear, open the AQW Account Manage site and find the Limited Quantity Shop section. When the items are available, grab yours before they're gone! (Each package also comes with a unique badge in your Book of Lore and on your character page.)

The Limited Quantity Sets are just what they sounds like... each set has a certain quantity and once that number has sold out then that's it. The total number of sets is the same for everyone, everwhere, so if you see 300 items left on the web page, that's what we've got left in stock.

How Do Limited Quantity Sets Work?

1. Log into your account manager on AQ.com (not into the game!) 
2. Purchase the set using either ACs or gold
3. Log into AQW and find your set badge in the Book of Lore 
4. Get all the items in the badge shop for 0 ACs (yay free storage!)

More Free HeroPoints O_O

Fixing a bug by giving MORE GIFTS

Last week, we gave heroes logging in 3 free HeroPoints to celebrate the return of HeroMart. Due to a bug with the gift-giving, some accounts received 6 instead of 3. To keep things fair, we've gone ahead and given ALL heroes 6 HeroPoints.

So if you originally got 3 HeroPoints last week, 3 more were added to your account yesterday.* The last date to log in to claim your free HP is now July 31, 2021.

Calendar Class Update: Time for BUFFS

Class Enthusiasts, this post is for you!

With the return of all calendar classes comes balance updates for each one released between 2011 and 2016 with the purpose of bringing them up to modern standards! Although every calendar class revolves around the Temporal Rift mechanic, these changes were made with the intent of giving each class a unique role, so a specific calendar class may perform better than the others depending on the situation you’re in!

Chronomancer

Chronomancer has aged poorly over the years, poor enough to the point where two of its skills are effectively unusable. These changes aim to bring back use to these skills and push the class into a glass cannon like role.

Mana Regeneration: Mana Model changed to Warrior

Temporal Strike:

• Damage increased
• Mana Cost: 5 > 3
• Cooldown: 2 seconds > 1.5 seconds

Rift Inversion:

• Healing function changed, now heals the player based on the number of Temporal Rift stacks they have (does not consume stacks)
• No longer applies Inverted Matrix
• Now applies Time Warp, which increases Haste by 20% for 12 seconds.- Mana Cost: 20 > 10

Rift Collapse:

• Now has an 80% increased chance to crit
• Mana Cost: 30 > 20

Riftburn:

• DoT damage reduced
• DoT no longer consumes or does damage based on Temporal Rift stacks
• Now reduces enemy Dodge by 15% 
• Mana Cost: 50 > 15
• Cooldown: 16 seconds > 12 seconds

ChronoCorruptor

ChronoCorruptor’s aura blocks, lack of mana sustain, and extreme levels of RNG make it very frustrating to use. We’ve made changes to each of these aspects so that the class feels better to play while still keeping a highrolling nature.

Mana Regeneration: Mana Model changed to Warrior

Chaos Rift Strike:

• Damage increased
• Mana Cost: 5 > 4
• Skill icon updated

Split Causality:

• Skill has been remade!
• When used, now applies either Mend Time or Restore Time to the player. Mend Time is a large HoT that lasts 2 seconds, Restore Time is a small HoT that lasts 8 seconds 
• When used, now applies either Time Hemorrhage or Time Bleed to the target. Time Hemorrhage is a large DoT that lasts 2 seconds, Time Bleed is a small DoT that lasts 8 seconds 
• No longer applies Unstable Rift- Mana Cost: 20 > 10
• Skill icon updated

Time Collapse:

• No longer applies Unstable Rift
• Mana Cost: 30 > 20
• Skill icon updated

Don’t Blink Twice:* 

• Skill has been remade!
• Damage reduced, but now always does damage
• No longer stuns
• Now applies Distorted Time to the player, which increases Haste by 20% for 15 seconds.
• Now applies either Visceral Shift or Shiftburn to the player. Visceral Shift increases physical damage by 100% for 5 seconds, Shiftburn increases HoT and DoT power by 100% for 5 seconds.
• Mana Cost: 50 > 15- Skill icon updated

Chaotic Movement: Dodge Chance: 10% > 15% 

Timekiller

We’re addressing a strange issue regarding Timekiller in which it’s a calendar class, but is missing the Temporal Rift mechanic. We’ve also made various adjustments that improve its PvP (and PvE) performance.

General: Switched positions of the Relive The Past and Compress Time skills

Stat Model: Changed to Rogue

Rift Slash (renamed from Auto Attack): Now applies Temporal Rift to the player

Stretch Time:

• Damage type changed to Physical
• Now applies Temporal Rift to the player
• Now reduces target Haste by a flat 20% for 10 seconds
• Mana Cost: 15 > 8

Compress Time:

• Mana Cost: 30 > 10
• Cooldown: 20 seconds > 10 seconds

Relive the Past: Now does damage based on stacks of Temporal Rift- DoT Damage increased

Stop Time:

• Damage reduced
• Damage type changed to Physical 
• Now applies Temporal Rift to the player
• Stun duration: 4 seconds > 2 seconds 
• Mana Cost: 45 > 20
• Cooldown: 16 seconds > 12 seconds

Temporal Cataclysm: Now reduces DoT damage taken by 60%

ChronoCommander

Improving ChronoCommander’s role as a tank without compromising its ability to deal damage.

Mana Regeneration: Mana Model changed to Warrior

Time Rift: Now always applies Focus

Time Rift Inversion: Healing function changed, now heals the player based on the number of Temporal Rift stacks they have (does not consume stacks)

Severed Rift:

• DoT damage reduced
• DoT no longer consumes or does damage based on Temporal Rift stacks
• Now reduces enemy damage by 25% - Mana Cost: 50 > 10

Auxiliary Systems (renamed from Timeless): Now increases Endurance by 150% 

Temporal Power Suit (renamed from Endless): Now reduces physical damage taken by 10% 

Chrono DragonKnight

Reducing Time of the Dragon’s cooldown to address the changes to monster respawn times. 

Mana Regeneration: Mana Model changed to Warrior

Time of the Dragon: Cooldown: 35 seconds > 25 seconds

Infinity Knight

Improving Infinity Knight’s mana sustain.

Mana Regeneration: Mana Model changed to DeathKnight (regens mana for each DoT tick)

This weekend, log in and /join chronohub to explore the Archipelago of Time! Discover the history of the Chronomancers as you farm for new gear, unlock lore scrolls, and more.

Lore fans, don't miss the scrolls in /chronohub. /join chronohub and head into the building, then click on the scrolls to learn more about the history of Chronomancy. There are about 10 stories covering the founding of the different Orders of Chronomancy.

Talk to all of the Chronomancers at /chronohub to learn their stories, then complete quests to unlock Timepieces to use in the Chronohub Merge shop!

HeroMart is back!

The in-game version of HeroMart, Artix Entertainment's online merch store, is open once again in AQWorlds! The HeroPoints Merge Shop is back, along with all of the gen 1 HeroPoints gear (including the Great Thief Class)!

Heromart is once again ramping up production, with many new posters, shirts, and other gear coming in the near future. That's why we've worked with the HeroMart crew to get the in-game map ready to re-open... and this weekend, you can /join Heromart to find all the returning rewards for HeroPoints... and a few shiny new options.

Variants of Calendar Classes are now available

Calendar Class variants are here! We've paired buffed versions of the original class skills with new art. The class sets are available for ACs or HeroPoints in the /heromart merge shop.

Starting this weekend, you’ll be able to buy Timelock Keys with AdventureCoins to unlock new variants of the Calendar Class sets** for AdventureCoins. Or you can buy the class and individual set items for HeroPoints.

• ChronoChaorruptor: 2012 ChronoCorruptor Class variant
• TimeKeeper: 2013 TimeKiller Class variant

How to buy the AC version:

1. Talk to Stryche in the /HeroMart map
2. Buy the Timelock Key for the Class for 6,000 ACs***

How to buy the HeroPoints version:

1. Buy merchandise from HeroMart. 
2. Once your merch arrives, find the HeroPoints code printed on your packing slip.
3. Redeem your code on the Portal site and apply the HeroPoints to your AQWorlds account.
4. Login to your AQWorlds account and /join Heromart
5. Talk to Stryche to open the HeroPoints merge shop for the Calendar Class you want

This weekend: HeroMart's Grand Reopening

HeroMart, HeroPoints, and Calendar Classes O_O!!!

HeroMart is Artix Entertainment's one and only real-world loot store. Stryche and his army of shipping sneevils offer gear you can /equip offline: t-shirts, calendars, posters, and more.

Heromart is once again ramping up production, with many new posters, shirts, and other gear coming in the near future. That's why we've worked with the HeroMart crew to get the in-game map ready to re-open... and this weekend, you can /join Heromart to find all the returning rewards for HeroPoints... and a few shiny new options.

As we continue to add more items for HeroPoints over the coming months and years, we'll also be making them available for AdventureCoins. That way, players who cannot get those digital in-game rewards (for example, because of high shipping costs) will still have a way to obtain them.

What are HeroPoint Rewards, and what are they for?

HeroPoints are a special currency you get as a bonus when you buy select merchandise (like T-shirts, prints, posters, etc) from our online store, HeroMart. 

 Spend them on digital reward items in AdventureQuest Worlds and several of our other online video games.

How do you earn HeroPoints?

The only way to earn HeroPoints is to buy select merchandise directly from HeroMart.  You will receive the HeroPoints redemption code on the packing slip when your package arrives at your door.

• 1 HeroPoint is roughly equal to $5 USD
• For every $5 dollars you spend on select merchandise, you'll get 1 HP (select items may have additional HP added on as a special bonus)

What if I just want to buy the digital item rewards?

Good news! Starting this month, we will offer the ability to buy select digital item rewards directly in-game using AdventureCoins OR HeroPoints.

The AC price will be equal to the value of the item in HeroPoints. For example, if a sword costs 2 HeroPoints, it will cost around 2,000 AdventureCoins. (1 HP = about $5 USD =  around 1,000 ACs) This way, we keep the price fair for all players, no matter how they buy the item.

• This option will only be available for in-game items released starting this month.
• Items in the original HeroPoints Merge shop return this weekend but will not be available for AdventureCoins.
  
• Buying items for HeroPoints or AdventureCoins will not unlock the exclusive character page badge that comes with the physical merchandise
• These items are not available as selections in the Item of Donated Awesomeness pool

What if I want to give my friend HeroPoints?

We've gotten many requests over the years for a way to gift your friends HeroPoints. Now that we will be selling the digital in-game item rewards, you'll be able to give your friend an Artix Points gift certificate. They can redeem that for AdventureCoins to buy the item/s they'd like.

Will I be able to buy exclusive rewards with HeroPoints or ACs?

Some merchandise will come with exclusive in-game rewards that will not be available for HeroPoints or AdventureCoins. (For example -- a hypothetical future 2nd generation of moglin plushies)

The product details page on HeroMart.com will specify what rewards it comes with, and how it will be available, so you will know in advance.

Can I exchange ACs for HP, or vice versa?

Good question (and great way to think outside the box). No, you won't be able to exchange one currency for the other. 

Didn't HeroPoints go rare?

The HeroPoints map, quests, and merge shop were removed temporarily from the game a few years ago due to an exploit in the game. The HeroPoints reward items themselves were never intended to go rare, and now we’re excited to bring them back for you!

New Variants of Calendar Classes Arrive 

That’s right! Over the last few years, we have been returning rare class skills paired with different art so that we aren’t locking new players out of core gameplay mechanics. And now, after many years and thousands of player requests… we’re doing the same with the Calendar Classes! (Plus, the 2011 - 2016 calendar classes have all been buffed to better fit our modern class balance standards.)*

Exaltia Tower Challenge Bosses

Journey to the Inn at the Edge of Time

This weekend in AdventureQuest Worlds, journey to the Inn at the Edge of Time. There are many like it -- spread across the multiple dimensions -- but this one is yours! Here we have the Arena of Time, where you can fight some of the strongest creatures in the multiverse!

Tonight, grab your guildmates or a group of friends and battle through a gauntlet of monsters and ultra challenge bosses drawn from the DragonFable dimension's Exaltia Tower!

This weekend, /join timeinn and fight to defeat:

• Ezrajal 
• The Warden 
• The Engineer and their drones 
• Ultra versions of Ezrajal, The Warden, and The Engineer

Exaltia Tower Rewards

The Exaltia Merge Shop contains a number of items imported from the DragonFable timeline. As they passed through the timestream, our loremasters noted the appearance of some of these items had... shifted slightly, almost as if they gained an additional 3/4 perspective. Timestream shenigans!

The merge shop contains armor sets and gear inspired by the Atealan storyline and classes from DragonFable:

• Cryptic armor set
• RiftWalker armor set
• Ascedant armor set
• Thaumaturgus Alpha, Omega, Ultima weapons
• Apostate Alpha, Omega, Ultima weapons

Our challenge bosses can be defeated once per day for their boss insignia. Collect these to trade for enchanted legendary weapons and gear that cannot be obtained any other way, making them a unique way to show off your accomplishments in AQW!

• Exalted Unity: requires level 95. Weapon damage is static and does 35% more to all monsters when equipped.
• Exalted Penultima: requires level 95. Weapon damage is static and does 40% more to all monsters when equipped.
• Exalted Apotheosis: requires level 95. Weapon damage is static and does 50% more to all monsters when equipped.

Plus, complete the quest to create the Exalted Apotheosis blade to unlock an exclusive character page badge.

The Return of Challenge Bosses

Over the past week, our developers have made a significant update to the servers that have brought back old boss skills. You can read more about these changes here. This also means existing skills can be combined in new and exciting ways. Meet our newest challenge bosses from the Exaltia Tower in DragonFable!

For each boss in this release, there will be “story” and “challenge” difficulty modes. For players who wish to experience the event and its lore, “story” versions of the bosses are straightforward fights with no special abilities. For those who wish for a challenge (and their exalted, exquisite, exclusive rewards!), you can pit yourselves against ultra versions of Ezrajal, The Warden, and The Engineer.

Going forward, we’d like to start things slowly, and introduce challenge bosses with skills throughout new releases. These special challenge bosses will follow a similar structure- these bosses are created with the intention to be fought by coordinated teams of 4 heroes. While their intended levels may vary, they pose a significant challenge at their respective levels.

The ultra Exaltia Tower bosses are endgame-level bosses intended to be fought with a full party of experienced players. These are NOT easy fights, and will have appropriately powerful rewards.

Exaltia Tower Boss Identification Guide

The first of the three challenge bosses is Ezrajal, a Celestial noble of the Tower of Exaltia. Ezrajal is a powerful ward of the Exaltia Tower who has the ability to lock your skills, reflect your attacks, and drain your health.

Ezrajal battle tips:

• None of his attacks are avoidable, but none of them can crit. Plan accordingly! 
• His lifesteal attack will occur frequently and hit hard for true damage, which cannot be reduced. 
• His reflect is infrequent, and has a warning- keep an eye out for it.

The Warden is the second of the challenge bosses, a creation of the Tower. The Warden is a powerful foe that can heal, petrify players, knock players down to 1hp, and will go berserk when its HP is low.

The Warden battle tips:

• Have healing on standby, or constant HoT, otherwise the shockwave attack will leave you for dead. 
• At certain health increments, the boss will perform the shockwave attack and heal a large portion of its health. 
• Below 30% HP, the boss will go berserk, raising its hit chance, dodge chance, crit chance, and attack speed greatly.

The Engineer is the third and final boss of this week, and the most difficult. The Engineer is accompanied by its two drones, an Offense Drone and a Defense Drone. The two drones shield their controller: the boss can only be damaged while BOTH drones are dead! In addition to that, the Offense Drone’s attacks cannot be avoided, but cannot crit, the Defense Drone has a damage reflection shield, and the Engineer will continuously attack all members of the party with unavoidable true damage, and will charge up a devastating attack once in a while.

The Engineer battle tips:

• Both drones must be killed in order to damage the boss - they have long respawn timers, so time your drone kills together to take advantage of the window. 
• The Offense Drone is susceptible to crowd control and stunning abilities! Keep it under control to prevent it from picking off your team members 
• The Defense Drone has a reflection shield that will charge up every so often- try to keep this timer in mind while you’re fighting it. 
• The Engineer has a powerful laser attack which divides its damage by the number of people in the room. Try to find a full party before challenging this boss

DragonFable: Magic. Dragons. Elements at WAR!

This week's game update released originally in DragonFable. DF is one of our most-loved games. With a rich story, incredible art, and the ability to TRAIN YOUR OWN DRAGON (!!!), this is one of my personal favorites out of all of the games I've ever played. (All biases aside.)
