Superbowl XLIX In-game Event
Can YOU Punt Twilly 100 Yards?
It's the biggest American Football game of the year!* On Lore, the Seahorcs and the Loyalists (what the real world knows as the Seahawks and the Patriots) are preparing to face off! After the 2nd Quarter ends, the Superbowl halftime show will begin... and so will our special event! When you've had your fill of watching Katy Perry rock the stadium, Log in and head to Battleon for our once-a-year PUNT TWILLY minigame!
Celebrate the big day and these two super-teams with the Seahorc and the Loyalist armors and the return of other seasonal favorites like the Spiked Pigskin and the Moglin Ref pet!
Don't forget that this is the ONLY time of year that you will be able to get the Moglin Punter Character Page Achievement Badge and all you have to do is kick Twilly the full 100 yards!

Oaklore Under Attack
Sepulchure's Army Invades the New Tutorial!
This Friday, battle to save Oaklore Keep from attacks by Sepulchure’s Undead Army in our new tutorial, then send us your feedback to help improve the opening of AQWorlds for new heroes!
If you can't stand the heat... slay the dragon!
We've built and re-built the tutorial over the years, with the goal each time of making it better than the last for the new heroes joining AQWorlds. I can honestly say that the team and I feel this is the best, most instructive, most visually appealing tutorial we've EVER created!
We would be grateful if all you experienced heroes would /join oaklore this weekend and run through the tutorial, too, and let us know if there's anything you think we could explain better!

AQ 3D Combat test!
Upgrade to help us test our FIRST EVER 3D MMO!
This Wednesday, the AQ3D servers will come back online with our first combat test. It will be available on the web for Members/Legends of AdventureQuest Worlds. The server side code has been completely written from the ground up. This combat system is able to do a lot more than the previous incarnation of AQ3D, BUT... this will be an ultra simple test featuring only basic attack.
If you saw my Facebook video post, then you are probably excited to know that Mr. Trolluk is making a return! The new version of town is not ready yet, but we hope you will forgive the art and help us test the basic combat. We will be closely watching network, graphics, and server performance during this test. This is very much the foundation of the game. We hope you will be a part of it.

Our in-game moderators and testers are amazing... and more, they're volunteers! They do not get paid for the many hours they spend each week helping keep the game safe and fun for everyone. Because they're volunteers, real-life has to come first; that means that occasionally, we lose some team members to outside responsibilities...but we ALSO get to bring on MORE new team members!
And that's why we're here today.

Foreign Language Mods Needed!
Sora here. I am looking for new mods for AQWorlds (and HeroSmash), and now is your chance to apply! One thing I have to stress - you MUST be 18+. If you are under 18, if you don't include your age, or if you start with "I'm not 18 yet, but..." the application will not be considered. Take a moment to read that last part again since every time we get players under 18 apply for some reason. Reading and understanding directions are key elements.
This time around I am ONLY in need of moderators who are bilingual (or more) in English and one of the following languages: Tagalog, Portuguese, Spanish.
Not bilingual? Don't worry! You can either wait until the next call for Mods or you can apply to be a Tester (see below).
More Testers Needed!
We release new content EVERY WEEK! (Sometimes, multiple times a week!) If you are an experienced, friendly, and helpful AQWorlds player, know the game inside out, upside down, and right-side 'round, and are willing to spend countless hours playing the game to test, break, and help FIX it... then Stratos wants YOU!
Here is what we are looking for. Someone who is:
- Experienced (this does NOT mean you have to be level 50+ but you should have played long enough to understand the game)
- Knowledgeable (you should know how all the various parts of the game play)
- A good communicator (if you cannot explain the bug you've experienced, we cannot fix it)
- Easy to work with (our testers work hard and have fun. Since this is a volunteer position, we want everyone to enjoy what they do and who they work with)
What We Need From You
Whether your considering applying for a Moderator or Tester you'll need to do the following:
- Send an e-mail to [email protected] with the subject line AQW TESTER APPLICATION or AQW MOD APPLICATION. If you don't the filter will delete your application.
- Include your real name, age (18+ only)
- Include your country of residence
- Include your AQW Game account name and email address
- Include your Master Account name and email address tied to the master account
- Include your Forum account name and email address if you have a forum account
- Include all Languages you speak/read
- Include a Resume (C.V.) *please note we'd like the resume in English.
- TESTER ONLY Include the days and times you're available to help out! We really need some people who can help during Friday's release testing (afternoon to early evening server time) but if you can't, don't worry - some types of testers can do their work at any hour.
- MOD ONLY A paragraph telling us what you think being a mod will mean and any experience you have that you think makes you a good candidate.
One application per person. If you apply for both put everything in one email. We will read and consider all applications, but cannot reply to them all. Make sure your application is correct before sending it, multiple or incomplete applications will be deleted. It will take some time for Stratos and myself to get through all the applications so please be patient. If you are chosen to go through a further interview, we will contact you by e-mail. If we do not respond, we want to thank you for being awesome enough to volunteer! Deadline for applications is Midnight server time Sunday February 15th!
For both applications we will be looking at your AQW account history, social networking and forum accounts if you have them, and arranging an in-game interview to talk one-on-one with potential candidates.

Nulgath fans can /join tercessuinotlim NOW to take on the Death's Head monster for a small chance to get the Death's Bright Blade weapon!
Loyal members of the Nulgath Nation can also get the full Golden Hanzo set in the ArchFiend merge shop or talk to Carnage to begin the Dark Makai rebellion quest chain (available to all players with access to the Tercessuinotlim zone).

In this Friday's event finale, based on characters from Zack Storch's new novel "Za'nar: Impossibility," battle through the Tombs of De’ther with the Magi of Za’nar to recover the Ring of Light! Your goal is to stop the dread dragon Jir'abin; after attacking Lore last week, his power is greater than ever before, and he’s on the move to Za’nar to wreak his revenge.

- Travel to the Tombs of De'ther to find the Ring of Light
- Solve the tomb's puzzle and defeat its guardian spirit

Meet the Magi with Zack
The stars of Za'nar: Impossibility!
Hello, heroes! I’m Zack Storch! You may have seen me in Battleon last year selling my armor, or on TBS’s reality TV show King of the Nerds. I’m very excited to be sharing my story, Za’nar: Impossibility with all of you! With the Za’nar Void Invasion coming up, I wanted to tell you about some of my characters. They’ll be helping you repel Jir’abin’s attack on Lore! You can learn even more about them in the novel, which is available now!
Sael Ageis
Dragon-shifting Wizard and co-leader of the Accord
In her nineteen years of life, Sael Ageis has accomplished a lifetime of accolades fighting in arena combat and when monsters organized during the War that threatened the planets of Za’nar one year ago. Her accomplishments during the War, as well as her father Qion’s political history, earned her a position of co-leadership over the newly founded interplanetary government, the Accord.
Proud, arrogant and stubborn, she can seem closed off at first and speaks with an odd formality, but cares deeply about Za’nar and the people in her life. A well studied Wizard with the rank of Magi, Sael was able to master a ritual of transformation to take on the form of a Dragon for use in interplanetary flight, and invented swift “Combat Runes” to use her icy attacks more quickly.
Klyde Vance
Blade Sorcerer of Earth
An eighteen year old man who met Sael while she was on an investigative assignment to Earth. Imaginative and prone to day dreams, learning that his fantasies of magic and aliens were real came as a welcome shock! After having her bring him to Za’nar, he discovered a knack for Blade Sorcery, or intuitive Magic inspired by the use of weapons and objects as channels.
With a new world opened up to him, he’s found himself questioning if anything is impossible. Now he uses conjured weapons to launch shockwaves, make broils of fire and send waves of water at those who would threaten his friends.
Fae
Hyperactive, Flying Earthling Sorcerer
With a difficult past and no family to rely on, Fae found strength in her best friends Klyde and Tyler. Adopting an upbeat personality has helped her overcome her past, while refusing to use her last name helped her be her own self and put her unhealthy parents behind her.
She has an interest in fencing, which helps hone her reflexes. A brilliant chemistry student, Fae is always positive and smiling, and has a large sweet tooth. She always wished Magic existed, so when Klyde and Sael brought her to Za’nar, she was ready to try and learn! Fae is a powerful Sorcerer, and has an affinity for Darkness Magics.
Daz Acer
Theatrical Wizard and Elemental Archer
Orphaned at a young age, Daz was adopted by Sael’s father Qion. Sael and Daz have always been close, and studied together at Reald University for High Magic. Extremely confident in composure, Daz has a flair for the theatrical and often thinks of life as a show. When the two-year monster uprising of the War began, he fought alongside Sael to protect the planets of Za’nar.
With the intuitive ability for Light Magics and Healing from birth, Daz also learned the Wizardry and Runes to fight with Elemental arrows, and be well-rounded with other elements.
Hailing from the small town of Ilis on the heavily forested planet Daram, seventeen year old Rath Halon has simple goals in life: finish school, surpass her father’s social position, have her name recorded in the annals of Magical history for some grand accomplishment or discovery, and become the captain of Vane Rajid’s royal guard--perhaps her goals aren’t so humble!
Rath doesn’t seek an adventurer’s life, but it manages to find her. Expecting to graduate with the rank of Magi at the top of her class, Rath is a very attentive student. She often worries she’s said something wrong and regrets her words, then apologizes or makes an effort to retract them. She fights with her kadjir's, thrown bladed hoops used in Magical ritual that can cloak themselves in Elemental forces like Fire and Lightning.
At thirty-four years old by Earth years, Zail is the provost of Reald University for High Magic. He often moves his hands when he speaks, and finds humor in small things.
In the worlds of Za’nar, there are two main divisions of Mages: Sorcerers and Wizards. Sorcerers cast Magics with their bodies, while Wizards make use of precisely drawn Runes of Void Energy. At Reald University, Zail and his teachers educate students on the principals and Runes of Magic.
Jir’abin
Dragon of Darkness
Having lost strength in a mysterious occurrence three-million years ago, Jir’abin resides on the Void Plane, making plans for his return to Za’nar. By creating his Shades and having them gather Inert Presence, or latent Magical worth held in every being, he seeks to regain his lost power to be able to manifest in Za’nar.
Having become obsessed over the years, he’s willing to do anything to accomplish what he not only sees as a noble goal, but a heroic one.

Three million years ago, the planetary system of Za’nar’s connection to the Magic-providing Void Plane was failing. To prevent the disappearance of Za'nar, a Magical Link between it and Earth was created. The Link shares much back and forth between the two systems, including their connection to the Void Plane.
Now, one year after the War and the establishment of a parliamentary monarchy in Za'nar, Earth is in trouble. Meet AQWorlds' Own King of the Nerds!
If you weren't with us back in 2014, you missed out on our first in-game meeting with AQWorlds' Zack Storch, during his appearance on season 2 of the hit TBS reality TV show, "King of the Nerds"! He is a really amazing guy, so we dubbed him AQW's "King of the Nerds" and gave everyone a chance to get his armor.

He's had many adventures since then, including finishing his first novel, "Za'nar: Impossibility." After reading an advance copy last year, Artix, the AQW team, and I knew we needed to make an in-game event based on the adventures of the characters.
The Author - Who IS Zack Storch?
Zack Storch is MANY things - author, AE fan, true nerd- but also:
- 22 years old
- Has been playing AE games since 2004 (before there were even classes in AQ classic, and buying an item sent you to another webpage...)
- A contestant on King of the Nerds season 2, where he brought Twilly along for the adventure to help me as his loyal and literal pocket healer
- Is an amateur game developer as a hobby
- Is working on his third novel and publishing this as his first
- Can be found on Twitter and on Facebook and his novel website
The Novel - Za'Nar: Impossibility
After working with Zack for the last few months, one this is very clear - he is FULL of ideas, and a very clear vision for the Za'narian story universe. It's filled with magic, mayhem, and magi the likes of which AQWorlds has never seen before! I am still trying to decide which of his characters is my favorite, but you'll be introduced to them all this Friday!

Three million years ago, the planetary system of Za’nar’s connection to the Magic-providing Void Plane was failing. Hiya, heroes! If you’ve been following me on Twitter, you know that I’ve been pretty sick the past few days >…<
Being sick totally sucks, and it’s hard to stay upbeat when you’re feeling under the weather. But when I got into the lab this morning, I found this envelope sitting on my desk. Cue instant smile!
And look what was inside the envelope: a bright shiny pink card, which reads Boldog Születésnapot!
That means “Happy Birthday!” in Hungarian. Fellow AQWorlds player Komarci97, who hails from Hungary, wrote a super sweet letter, too! Awwww <3
And… OMG… there’s earrings in the card! And they’re not just normal earrings—they are decorated with a special Hungarian Kalocsa folk pattern.
Kalocsa is one of the most beautiful Hungarian towns with a great folk art history! And Komarci97 shared its beauty with me!!!
Thank you SO MUCH Komarci97 for making me feel SO MUCH better and feel SO beautiful despite me being SO sick!

2015 Server Changes Incoming!
Last year, I talked about our plans for the server rewrite, and all of the new functionality it would let us do. We had to delay development on the rewrite while Yorumi worked on a number of backend and more immediate projects AQWorlds needed but the team is now at the point where we're ready to go back to it!
This week, Yorumi, Zhoom, Rolith, and I will meet to finalize the plan for Phase 1 of the server rewrite. The entire project will take at least a full year, but we expect to have Phase 1 ready for live-testing (after staff testing) by September. It's a pretty big project, but having the existing server to port TO will speed the process up. We are still looking at serveral months mi
Once we have AQWorlds running on the new servers, then we can start working on the many changes and new functionality ideas you all have told us about! That does include new anti-botting measures, as well as class improvements and bringing back old functionality.
After that meeting, I will post a longer Design Notes explaining in more detail WHY we need the server rewrite, what it will entail, and what changes we can expect to see (including chat filter improvements, less lag, character set save functionality, and more!)

Zack Storch, long-time player of Artix Entertainment's games and competitor on the King of the Nerds reality TV show, returns to AQWorlds this week a published author! His new book, Za'nar: Impossibility, is available on Amazon now!

I got a chance to read the novel last year, and knew right away this was the stuff AQWorlds events are made of! It's got danger, magic, battles, and DRAGONS! It's a really great read, and if you pick it up this weekend, you'll have a great idea of what's in store for Friday's event, because...

Learn the art of sub-zero monster slaying. with extra-high XP and class point rewards as we prepare for war against the Queen of Monsters! Members can battle through the Hall of Honors for even greater rewards!
Starting tonight, /join eaglesreach and talk to Storvald the BattleMaster to begin training in the Eagles Reach BattleGrounds. The arenas are broken up by level, so you'll be sure to face monsters that will help you get stronger FASTER!
